At MWNS, we recommend that students planning on sitting the SHSPT enrol in Private Lessons for weekly preparation. These one-hour classes are $94/hr and allow our tutors to teach your child all 4 test areas – Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Writing & Thinking Skills.

 

Our specialised Selective High School Test tutoring lessons are one-on-one with a friendly and experienced tutor who will be able to help your child with exam preparation. These weekly lessons will focus on teaching content, exam tips and strategies, and preparing students to perform in exam conditions with time restraints.

Selective High School Test preparation tutoring classes equip students with the skills, knowledge and strategies needed to excel in the placement test, which is highly competitive and designed for academically gifted students in NSW.

 

These classes focus on enhancing students’ mathematical reasoning, reading, writing and thinking skills while improving their test-taking strategies, time management and confidence.

What is the Selective High School Test?

Selective High Schools are designed for academically gifted students who would benefit from learning in an environment tailored to brighter students. Students sit the Test in Year 6 for placement in Year 7.

 

Unlike other tests, the Selective High School Test is not mandatory and it is encouraged that only students who are excelling at school apply.

 

There are 4,248 places available in selective high schools across NSW for entry to Year 7.

Sydney Secondary College Balmain and Leichhardt campuses offer places in Years 7 to 10. Students from these campuses will generally proceed to Sydney Secondary College Blackwattle Bay Campus for Years 11 and 12.
