What is the Selective High School Test?
Selective High Schools are designed for academically gifted students who would benefit from learning in an environment tailored to brighter students. Students sit the Test in Year 6 for placement in Year 7.
Â
Unlike other tests, like NAPLAN, the Selective High School Test is not mandatory and it is encouraged that only students who are excelling at school apply. There are 47 selective high schools for Year 7 entry each year, including an online class, Aurora College, for rural and remote students. This includes 17 selective high schools & 25 partially selective high schools.Â

Applications for Year 7 2025 entry closed on 20th November 2023.

The Selective High School Test Results will be released around late-August 2024.
How to Prepare for the Test?
Weekly Tuition
At MWNS, we recommend that students planning on sitting the Selective High School test enrol into Individual Lessons on a weekly basis.Â

These lessons are one-on-one with a friendly and experienced tutor that will be able to prepare your child for the test. These weekly lessons will focus on teaching content, exam tips and strategies as well as preparing students for performing in exam conditions with time restraints.

- Problem Solving Questions & Reasoning Questions
- Working in Exam Conditions
Day 3:
- Mathematical Reasoning
- Numerical Reasoning, Measurement, Numeracy Skills, Number Sequencing, Space & Geometry, Chance and Data & Fractions, Decimals and Percentages
