Yes. Lessons are conducted on Pupil Free Days as they vary for different schools.
Tutoring
At MWNS, we teach Maths & English from Kindergarten to Year 12.
We offer Private Lessons, where one teacher works with one student for the hour. We also offer Micro Groups, with one teacher and a maximum of three students for the hour. In both lesson structures, students are taught individually and in alignment with their schoolwork or areas that need development.
Primary (Kindy – Yr6)

Yes – if your child is unable to attend a lesson, simply log into the Parent Portal or contact us at least 24 hours prior to the lesson. You can either book another lesson within 6 days or save the lesson and reschedule it for another time within the same calendar year while your child is enrolled with us.
For same-day cancellations or missed lessons, you cannot defer, nor are credits or refunds provided, unless required by law.
If your child is slightly unwell, they are more than welcome to stay home and join their lesson online. If they are feeling quite unwell and you are able to provide us with 24 hours notice or a doctor’s certificate, we would be more than happy to defer their lesson to another day throughout the calendar.
We accept cash, credit card, bank transfers, or an automatic payment schedule through Ezidebit. All ongoing enrolments need to set up an automatic payment schedule, which will be processed either fortnightly or for each term.
Term Enrolment: Once enrolled for the term, students are committed for the full duration, and we’re unable to pause enrolments during this time.
Ongoing Enrolment: You’re welcome to pause ongoing enrolments with 14 days’ notice (not including the day of notice). If you’d like to pause an enrolment, just send us an email at admin@mwns.com.au. We’ll need written notice to make any changes. When you’re ready to resume tuition, get in touch, and we’ll happily check availability for you!
Assessments
The Assessment will provide you with a real-time view of how your child is progressing for their year level. If you do decide to begin tuition at MWNS, it will also inform our tutors of focus areas that your child needs to work on.
Each assessment takes approximately 45-60 minutes to complete (per subject). You are welcome to wait in our waiting area or return to the centre after a short while.
Each Assessment covers all topics that the Department of Education expects students in that year level to be familiar with.
Simply call (02 9697 9999) or email our Admin team (admin@mwns.com.au) letting them know that your child is unable to complete the Assessment and we arrange it for another day.
Yes, you do. Our Curriculum Coordinator marks the completed Assessment, reviews the results by topic areas and works with our assessment tools to provide you with an insight into how your child performed. The report will be emailed to you within a week of your child sitting the Assessment.
Our Assessments will be an accurate reflection of your child’s performance. It will allow you to decide if tutoring will be helpful or simply give you the peace of mind that they have not fallen behind. There is no obligation for you to enrol your child, whatever the outcome.
MWNS Parent Portal

Once you log into the Parent Portal, click “Progress” and then “Teacher Comments”. This will show your child’s lesson evaluations.
You can then select “View Achieved Australian Curriculum Points” to see your child’s progress against the curriculum.
The Parent Portal (parent.mwns.com.au) provides parents with access to their child’s evaluations, Australian Curriculum progress, invoices, lessons, as well as the ability to contact our Admin Team.
The Student Portal (stage.mwns.com.au) allows students to join their online lessons, upload schoolwork/homework they would like to work on at tutoring as well as view document uploads from their tutor.

Our Teachers
Our definition of a qualified teacher is a person who has completed training recognised by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), such as a degree or diploma. Most of our teachers are either qualified or working towards a qualification at University or TAFE. A handful of our teachers are not qualified on that basis, however, they are experienced in tutoring and have passed Principal Sia’s high standards before being employed.
Teachers are scheduled to teach on certain days throughout the week. If a teacher is absent, we will endeavour to find a replacement. If we are unable to do so, we will notify you as soon as possible and give you the option to either reschedule this lesson or have a credit applied to your account.
Absolutely! You are more than welcome to speak with your child’s tutor before or after their lesson, if you are able to come into the centre. Alternatively, you are more than welcome to send an email to your Centre Manager and they will be sure to pass on your message prior to your child’s lesson.
