About Us & Our Tutors

Sia Goutzas, our Principal and Founder, is a dedicated Secondary Mathematics teacher and mother of three wonderful girls. Known for her organisation and inspiring leadership, Principal Sia works tirelessly to create spaces at our centres where students and teachers alike can thrive and build confidence.

Fun Fact! All three of Principal Sia’s daughters attended MWNS tuition from Kindy through to Year 12. The girls currently work in the business in teaching, administration and marketing capacities.

Starting her teaching journey in a traditional school environment, Principal Sia identified the varying learning paces and styles among students. This realisation inspired her to establish MWNS in 2003, dedicated to providing tailored lessons that cater to individual learning needs and preferences.

Combining her experience teaching in a classroom with her Bachelor of Education Degree, Principal Sia fosters an environment at MWNS where students are empowered to ask questions, embrace challenges, and pursue their educational goals with confidence.

A qualified teacher at MWNS is recognised as someone who has completed training accredited by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), including degrees or diplomas. Most of our teachers are either fully qualified or in the process of obtaining qualifications through reputable institutions like University or TAFE. Although a few may not possess formal credentials, they have showcased their tutoring expertise and met the rigorous standards set by Principal Sia before joining our team.

You can discuss most aspects of your child’s tuition directly with their tutor before or after their scheduled lesson in the waiting room. Our tutors are readily available to address any concerns and discuss your child’s progress and learning objectives.

For administrative inquiries, assistance beyond tutoring hours, or sharing documents like school reports or specialist learning plans, we recommend reaching out to your Centre Manager via email or phone. They’ll be happy to assist you promptly.

Assessments

The Year 6 English assessment provides an instant snapshot of your child’s progress at their current year level. If you decide to enrol your child at MWNS, it also allows us to identify any areas of weakness that we can address during tuition sessions.

Approximately an hour. Feel free to relax in our waiting area during your child’s assessment, or take some time for yourself at one of the nearby cafes. If they finish particularly early, our Admin Team will notify you that your child is sitting safely in our waiting room under the supervision of our Centre Manager.

Each assessment covers the topics outlined by the Department of Education for students at that year level. These carefully crafted assessments allow us to obtain a detailed overview of your child’s abilities based on their results.

We hope they feel better soon! Simply contact us letting us and we will happily reschedule the assessment to a later day, with no penalty.

Absolutely! Upon completion of the assessment, our Curriculum Coordinator diligently marks it, carefully analyses the results by topic areas, and prepares a summary report of your child’s performance. You can anticipate receiving this detailed report via email within a week of your child completing the assessment.

No. There are no fees or obligations associated with our free assessments. Our assessments offer a precise snapshot of your child’s performance, giving you the insight needed to make informed decisions about tutoring. Whether it’s to address areas of concern or simply for peace of mind, rest assured, there’s no obligation to enrol regardless of the outcome.

Administration

Of course! Parents or students may reschedule lessons until the day prior to the scheduled session. We ask for a 24-hour notice or a doctor’s certificate for rescheduling. If a lesson isn’t rescheduled within the current term, it will be forfeited. Please note that no credits or refunds are provided for absences.

We welcome payments in Cash, Credit Card, Bank Transfers, or through an Automatic Payment Schedule (fortnightly payments) via Ezidebit.

For Ongoing Enrolments, it is necessary to establish an Automatic Payment Schedule, which can be processed either on a fortnightly basis or per term.

If your child no longer requires tuition and you wish to withdraw them, we will require 14 days’ notice. Your child is welcome to attend their scheduled lessons during the notice period. All withdrawals must be provided via email (admin@mwns.com.au). If you have paid for the term in full, a credit for the balance of the term’s fees will be applied to your account. We do not offer refunds unless required by law.
